Central Pattern Generators are used in several kinds of robot locomotion, from swimming and flying, to bipeds,
quadrupeds and hexapods. It is thought that this approach can yield better results in dynamical and natural
environments. In this work we expand a previous quadruped locomotion controller and propose a method
to couple the step cycle phase onto the locomotor CPG of a quadruped robot, creating a feedback pathway
to coordinate the phases of each leg to the phase of the step cycle. This approach is tested in a simulated
quadruped robot and the performed locomotion is evaluated. Results demonstrate that the proposed phase
coupling synchronizes the swing step phase of ipsilateral legs to the respective step phase of the cycle and
show an improvement in stability of the performed walk gait.

This study focus on the identification of the image of the nature of science recommended for the teaching of Natural Science, Biology and Geology in the portuguese educational system. It is based on the analysis of official documents on educational policy: “Physical and Natural Sciences – Curriculum Guidelines for the 3rd cycle of Basic Education” and “Biology-Geology Sillabus for the 10th and 11th grades in Upper-Secondary Education”. Although the official documents on educational policy show some weaknesses and omissions, they follow somehow the recommendations given by the research in science education. The interpretation of the collected data indicates that the programs have an image of the nature of science based on a post-positivist perspective.

The interview had as main goals: to understand the interoperability of the SSE WIS, to understand the SSE community in Italy, to understand the WIS of Italy; to understand the relationship of the SSE community with their world SSE counterparts.
