Ensuring that digital data remain accessible and reusable over time requires the
implementation of proactive, scalable and sustainable preservation strategies. To be
of greatest effect, preservation issues must be considered from the point of creation
and throughout the entire life-cycle of the digital resource. This chapter will examine
some of the technical issues surrounding digital preservation and also explore some
of the philosophical issues that may hinder effective uptake and implementation of
digital preservation strategies.

Först ut i med digital-TV i Sverige var Gotland. Invånarna var först skeptiska till förändringen med nya apparater och boxar som skulle kopplas in i TV:n. Madeleine Wetterskog, forskare i kommunikationsvetenskap, frågade 400 gotlänningar vad de tyckte om digital-tv-övergången och resultatet visar att attityderna svängde från negativt till positivt och att kostnaderna faktiskt blev mindre för tittarna.

A digital arc is called `straight' if it is the digitization of a straight line segment. Since the concept of digital straightness was introduced in the mid-1970's, dozens of papers on the subject have appeared; many characterizations of digital straight lines have been formulated, and many algorithms for determining whether a digital arc is straight have been defined. This paper reviews the literature on digital straightness and discusses its relationship to other concepts of geometry, the theory of words, and number theory.
El objetivo de este proyecto es el análisis, diseño e implementación sobre una
FPGA de altas prestaciones (Xilinx Virtex XSV-800) de un sistema de procesado digital
en tiempo real de una señal de vídeo digitalizada previamente, y su visualización sobre
un monitor VGA estándar. El procesado incluye la aplicación de efectos sobre la
imagen tales como pausa, zoom, mosaico, rotación, reflejo, estroboscópico y otros. La
implementación se da en lenguaje vhdl.

På Högskolan i Halmstad utvecklar man ett nytt sätt att läsa tidningen på, via en liten dator. Det kallas E-pappersteknik och är en elektronisk läsplatta med en tidning i. För att uppdatera E-papperstidningen, kopplar man den till en dator. Att få nya uppdateringar tar ett par sekunder, och man kan göra det flera gånger om dagen.

När digitalkameror används allt mer blir kvaliteten på utskrifterna allt viktigare. Hittills har resultatet i skrivaren inte alltid blivit lika bra som bilden i datorn. Vorliegende Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit den digitalen Implikationen auf den herstellenden und verbreitenden Buchhandel. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf E-Books und wie Verlage dieser Herausforderung begegnen. Gleichzeitig wird auch die theoretische Bedeutsamkeit für die Vergleichende Literaturwissenschaft erläutert.
Aufgrund der bislang dürftigen Forschungslage versteht sich diese Arbeit als Bestandsaufnahme, die vor allem bis dato aktuelle Branchenmeldungen aufarbeitet. Darüber hinaus wurde mit einigen Vertretern des Literaturbetriebs persönlich Kontakt aufgenommen, um die nötige Nähe zur Praxis zu erreichen.
